The quaint market town of Cockermouth is a 10 minute drive and Keswick about 20 minutes .

There are excellent pubs close by, the nearest in the village of Dean roughly 10 minutes walk or two minutes drive.

The acclaimed Kirkstyle Inn, is 10 minutes drive.

Buttermere , Pillar,Eskdale and Wasdale are very accessible for the more accomplished walkers or climbers.

There are two marinas on Derwentwater for those wishing to try sailing or canoeing.
